CS Dragon E-sport Team Won the Champion in the League of Legends: Wild Rift

    The Dragon LOLM Team of the Department of E-sport Technology Management, Cheng Shiu University participated in the “League of Legends: Wild Rift – First Intermural Spring Contest” held by Taiwan Mobile and Bowl Cut Entertainment, demonstrating powerful and outstanding skills. Needless to say, it won in the open championship of League of Legends: Wild Rift. 

    The Dragon LOLM Team, led by captain Jui-Hsiang Kang, comprises the following teammates: Cheng-Hsiung Hus, Chung-Ching Liu, Wei-Cheng Chung, Hung-Jie Chen, Kuo-Hao Lan, and Chen-Wei Chuang. They practiced hard every day, exerting their outstanding strength and excellent team play. They recently participated in the “League of Legends: Wild Rift – First Intermural Spring Contest”. After many fierce battles, they eventually won the championship. According to the organizers’ statistics, the Top 2-5 players on the ranking list were all Dragon LOLM Team players, with outstanding performance.

    Jui-Hsiang Kang said that the Dragon LOLM Team fought against 128 teams and passed all the way to the quarterfinals. Although they lost a few points during the competition period, they still relied on teamwork to turn the table and win the championship in Taiwan. Everyone was thrilled about this rare record.

    E-sports was officially included in the Sports Industry Development Act by the Legislative Yuan after the third reading in 2017. E-sports-related industries are booming in Taiwan, with international organizations estimating that by the end of 2019, the global e-sports output value will reach USD 160 billion—about NTD 4.47 trillion. Twitch, the world’s largest video game streaming platform, also pointed out that Taiwan’s e-sports population is as high as 7.5 million, ranking fifth in the world’s viewing traffic.

    Jui-Hsiang Kang said that the Dragon LOLM Team had to receive team training for at least 2 hours a day to achieve good results. Their common goal was to become professional players who could represent Taiwan in competing abroad and win glory for Taiwan.

    Chairman Che-Jen Hsieh of the Department of E-Sport Technology Management indicated that the Department of E-Sport Technology Management, established this year, mainly cultivates talents in the e-sports industry. The Department is equipped with an e-sports hall, anchor hall, VR experience hall, and professional e-sports classrooms. In the future, there will be a mobile game hall and a live main hall, which are water-cooled halls in cooperation with Thermaltake Technology. These e-sports halls will be the must-visit attractions for e-sports enthusiasts.
    Mr. Hsieh said that the school has successfully built cooperation with many manufacturers and team alliances for students. The popularity of e-sports in the future and the promising prospects will be limitless.
