Given the growing diversity of industries in southern Taiwan and the ensuing demand for professional technical talents, the Southern Taiwan Joint Services Center, Executive Yuan recently hosted an Explanatory Seminar for Work Permit Taiwan Applications of Overseas Chinese and Foreign Graduates at Cheng Shiu University, where the purpose was to recruit and retain high-caliber overseas Chinese and foreign graduates with expertise and potential.

Deputy Executive Manager, Wen-liang Chen, of the Southern Taiwan Joint Services Center, Executive Yuan indicated that the employment of Taiwanese students only requires labor insurance and national health insurance, while the recruitment of overseas Chinese and foreign graduates involves the application to the Ministry of Labor for work permits under the point-based system. However, this paperwork is tedious, complex, and unfamiliar for overseas Chinese and foreign graduates.

The seminar explained the Ministry of Labor’s point-based system and the quota for overseas Chinese and foreign graduates. The details of the criteria, a Chinese translation of necessary documents, and administrative procedures, such as authentication, were provided, in order that those planning to stay in Taiwan for work could make early preparations.  

The Southern Taiwan Joint Services Center, Executive Yuan, will host a total of five seminars on work permits for overseas Chinese and foreign graduates this year at colleges and universities in Southern Taiwan, where the purpose is to recruit and retain graduates with special expertise and potential.
