Rou-an Shih, in the second year of the Master’s programs of the Department of Cosmetics and Fashion Styling, won one gold and two silvers. She won a gold medal in eyelash extension techniques. The usual cosmetic design applied to a customer’s roundish eyes is to render the fold of the double eyelids unnoticeable. However, Shih decided to extend the look of the eyes with a sexy touch, and her eyelash extensions made the fold obvious and the double eyelids looked lively.

Shi-hsuan Tsai, a student from the Department of Food and Beverage, won a gold medal in the art of vegetable carving with her work “Qilin and Its Child”. She mentioned the tremendous difficulty when practicing the carving of taros, consulted with Lecturer Chin-chun Cheng about shaping and detailing, and accomplished her works with gradual modifications. At the end of this competition, she was happy and surprised when told she had won the gold medal, and felt grateful and emotional after months of effort.

The participating teachers and students mentioned that this was the first time the competition was held online due to COVID-19. That said, it was a great opportunity to join a global contest during the pandemic, as it broadened the horizon and stimulated one’s potential.
